SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

Evergy S.T.E.A.M. Scholarship

The Wichita (KS) Chapter of the Links, Inc., Presents the Evergy STEAM Scholarship.   Evergy is investing in the higher education of Kansas’ next generation! In partnership with Evergy, The Wichita (KS) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated would like to offer educational scholarships to recognize and encourage the continuing education of Kansas students. We aim to identify students exemplifying excellence.  We are proud to award two (2) $5,000 one-time scholarships to Wichita area High School Seniors who display academic excellence and community leadership. We will accept Scholarship Applications between January 15, 2025, through March 31, 2025.

Guidelines: Evergy Scholarships Applicant must be a high school senior of African American descent living in the Greater Wichita Region.  We will offer one-time scholarships awarded to students entering post-secondary education. The scholarships are merit-based with consideration given to academic record, leadership, and participation in school and/or community activities, and a personal statement of student’s STEAM educational and career goals. Applicant must enroll as a student at an institution of higher education in the 2025-2026 academic school year.

 

Eligibility: Applicants must pursue a degree in or closely related to one of the following disciplines: STEAM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, at an accredited post-secondary institution. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Applicant must demonstrate leadership in school or community.

Heart of the Community Scholarship​

​

The Wichita (KS) Chapter of the Links, Inc., Offers the Heart of the Community Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The Wichita (KS) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated has served the Greater Wichita Community through its youth-serving programs for over 50 years. The Links, Inc, Vision is to enrich communities and improve the quality of life for people of African descent through friendship and service. To this end, we are proud to offer the Heart of the Community Scholarship celebrating those who uplift and inspire their communities! This Community Scholarship offering is for high school students who are actively building and uplifting their community through service.   The Links Community Scholarship ($1,000).

Criteria:

Open to all high school students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher all applicants must create and provide a 2 minute video responding to this prompt. Discuss three ways the scholarship will assist you in making a positive impact in your community based on the major you plan to pursue. We will accept Scholarship Applications between January 15, 2025, through March 31, 2025.

KEEP IT MOVING Scholarship​

​The Wichita (KS) Chapter of the Links, Inc., offers the "Keep It Moving" Scholarship for Continuing college students of African descent in the amount of $1,000.  The Wichita (KS) chapter of the Links, Incorporated has served the Greater Wichita Community through its youth-serving programs for over 50 years. We are proud to offer the "Keep It Moving" Scholarship for students determined to stay on track and keep their dreams alive! This continuing education scholarship offering is for college students who are past Wichita Links scholarship recipients or past participants in the Links youth serving programs. 

Criteria for College Students

Students who are interested in applying for a continuing college scholarship must be:

· Past Wichita Links scholarship recipient or been a participant in a Links youth serving program

·  Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university

·  Use the scholarship funds to continue pursuing an undergraduate education

·  Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA

The following factors will be evaluated to determine which college students are selected to receive a continuing scholarship:

· Current cumulative GPA with a transcript (3.0 GPA) Must have a 3.0 or higher

·  List most significant college and community activities and any respective leadership positions

·  List Honors and achievements while in college 

·  All applicants must create and provide a 2 minute video responding to this prompt: Discuss three ways the scholarship will assist you in making a positive impact in your community based on the major you plan to pursue.
